[Topic] How to Love Others

Updated: Jul 21, 2019

People love in different ways and people feel loved in different ways. Here are the five languages of love:

1. Words of affirmation: people feel loved when they are encouraged and appreciated expressed through words (speech or writing). What you can do:

  • Write a thank-you card about something he/her did

  • Send a cute text like "You are amazing. Never forget that. Love you!"

  • Say "I love you."

  • Other cute sayings or text: - Thanks for taking care of me. - You look great today! - You are my favorite blessing. - Hope your busy day is going well. I'm thinking of you♡ - I love being your girlfriend/boyfriend.

2. Acts of service: do things/help to do things for him/her; What you can do:

  • Wash the dishes together (one can wash and the other can dry the dishes)

  • Make breakfast and enjoy it together

  • Do the laundry (once in a while ; ))

3. Physical touch: use body language and touch to express love (non-verbal = not through words) What you can do:

  • Give bear hugs

  • Kiss on the head/cheek/lips

  • Hold hands when shopping or walking together

4. Quality time: focused conversations that is not interrupted; 1-on-1 time is a must What you can do:

  • Take walks together (no phones!)

  • Vacation time with just the two of you

  • Create special moments together

5. Receiving gifts: give thoughtful gifts What you can do:

  • Express happiness & gratitude when you receive the gift

  • Give gifts with a special meaning (remember things he/she likes)
