These are the place prepositionsšŸ“

general (in) > more specific (on) > very specific (at)


ā–¶in: for a boundary such as a country, city, neighborhood, or enclosed space

Examples:

  • She lives in France.

  • People in the U.S. love to eat hamburgers.

  • One of the best things to do in Tokyo is to eat Ichiran Ramen.

  • Beef noodles is one the most popular cuisines in Taipei.

  • The worldā€™s busiest crossing is in Shibuya.

  • Kim is in a car.

  • Rick is sleeping in the bedroom.


ā–¶on: for a SURFACE

Examples:

  • There are many coffee shops on Daan Street that are really .

  • The new shopping mall is on Sixth Avenue.

  • Vanessa is standing on the road.

  • Lenny is on a bus in London.

  • The fruit bowl is on the table.

  • Jane is in her room on the 2nd floor.

ā–¶at: for a POINT in space

Examples:

  • The restaurant is at 87 Renai Street.

  • Penny is at the bus stop.

  • Ellen is buying some snacks at the store.

  • Wen is at home.

  • George is waiting for his mom at the corner of the street.

  • Julie is buying breakfast at 7-11.
