[Topic] Are you a Foodie?

Updated: Feb 15, 2020

Do you like food? Do you call yourself a "foodie"?

A "foodie" is a person with a particular interest in food; can also be called a "gourmet"(=a person who knows a lot about food and cooking, and who enjoys eating good food).

Here are the top 10 dishes in the world listed on CNN:

  • Spaghetti bolognese: from Italy; a pasta dish with tomato-based sauce to which minced beef (or pork) has been added

  • Xiaolongbao: from China; broth-filled Shanghainese steamed pork dumplings

  • Baguette: a long, thin loaf of French bread that is commonly made from basic lean dough. It is distinguishable by its length and crisp crust

  • Churros: from Spain; a fried-dough pastry dessert

  • Tempura: a Japanese dish usually consisting of seafood or vegetables that have been battered and deep fried

  • Dosa: from India; a cooked flat thin layered rice batter, somewhat similar to a crepe in appearance

  • Gyros: a classic Greek sandwich made from meat cooked on a vertical rotisserie, onions, tomato, lettuce, fries, and tzatziki rolled in a pita

  • Tom yam kung: a type of hot and sour Thai soup, usually cooked with shrimp. It is distinguished with fragrant spices and herbs generously used in the broth

  • Tacos al pastor: a Mexican taco with thinly sliced pieces of pork marinated in a combination of dried chilies, spices, and pineapple

  • Cheeseburger: from America; a hamburger topped with cheese
