[Topic] Transport to the future

How do you get to work or school every day? When I ask my students this question, most of them will give the "textbook" version.

There's nothing wrong with the grammar, it's just that you won't hear native speakers say it like that.

★☆How do you commute/get to work? ▶I take the bus to work. ▷I ride my scooter to work. ▶I ride my bike to work. ▷I drive my car to work. / I carpool to work. ▶I walk to work. ▷I take the MRT to work. (In Taiwan, we call it the MRT.)



Take the bus:

Answer like a native:

(O) I take the bus to work. (X) I go by bus.



Ride my scooter:

Answer like a native:

(O) I ride my scooter to work.

(X) I go by scooter.



Ride my bike:

Answer like a native:

(O) I ride my bike to work.

(X) I go by bike.



Drive my car/carpool:

Answer like a native:

(O) I drive my car to work. / I carpool with my colleagues to work.

(X) I go by car.



Walk:

Answer like a native:

(O) I ride my scooter to work.

(X) I go by scooter.


Take the subway:

Answer like a native:

(O) I take the subway to work. / I take the tube to work. / I take the metro to work.

(X) I go by subway.
